What is Formula Reference?
Formula Reference is a browser-based reference app holding 50,044 formulas organized into 17 categories and 94 subcategories. Each entry shows the expression in KaTeX, its symbols and units, and related formulas. Examples: Ohm's law V = I × R, circle area S = π r², ideal gas law P V = n R T.
How does it work?
It runs fully client-side with no server or API. Category data is sharded and lazy-fetched, and a prebuilt inverted search index lets you find a formula by name, symbol, alias, or one of 219 tags. KaTeX (loaded from CDN) typesets every expression. Favorites and recent history persist in localStorage.
When should I use it?
Use it when you need to look up or verify a formula quickly across math, physics, electricity, or statistics without sign-up or installation. Browse by category, search a symbol like "V" or a term like "area", or open the 14 entries with built-in calculators to plug in values directly.

Frequently asked questions
How many formulas does Formula Reference contain?
50,044 formulas across 17 categories and 94 subcategories, covering geometry, motion, electricity, statistics, math, thermodynamics, optics, quantum, chemistry, finance, and more.
Can I search by a symbol or tag?
Yes. A prebuilt inverted index lets you search by formula name, symbol (e.g. V), alias, or one of 219 tags. Suggestions appear as you type.
Does it need an account or internet connection?
No account is needed. It is fully static and client-side; only KaTeX math rendering loads from a CDN. Search, favorites, and the calculators run in your browser.
What does each formula entry show?
The expression typeset with KaTeX, its plain-text form, a symbol/unit table, a description, related formulas, and references. Around 91 entries include step-by-step worked examples.
What languages are supported?
The interface and formula content are available in English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, and German, switchable from the language selector.
