What is WorldAtlas?
WorldAtlas is a static, client-side world atlas web app. It bundles factual datasets — 199 countries (with capital, population, area, GDP, official languages, currencies), 154 active and 22 historical currencies, 767 UNESCO heritage sites, 7 language families and 21 scripts — onto an interactive map.
How does it work?
It loads JSON datasets (countries.json, currencies.json, heritages.json, languages.json, scripts.json) into the browser and renders a MapLibre GL JS map. MiniSearch powers full-text search across countries, currencies, languages and heritage sites. No server or API calls run at query time.
When should I use it?
Use WorldAtlas to look up a country's capital, population, area, official languages or currency; check a currency's symbol, subunit and central bank; trace a writing system's history; or find UNESCO heritage sites (natural, cultural or mixed) by country, all in one offline-capable map view.
